Winners: Game Day III

Bear Riding
Our first competitive event of the weekend was the Polar Bear Riding contest on Saturday evening. There were a great number of determined bear-riders, and I salute the bravery of all of them.

However, there could be only one winner:

Satu Moreau won with an astounding 150 seconds on the bear!

Congratulations to M. Moreau, who won a rideable bear to take home for more practice.

En Garde Tournament
Sunday's events began early in the morning with the individual En Garde tournament, held in MariKesh Mondrago.

Results were:

1st place: Wildstar Beaumont
2nd place: Mary Nuyasaka
3rd place: Tepic Harlequin
4th place: Nika Thought-werk (robotnika)

Winners took home a portion of the proceeds and a plaque indicating their placement. Mr. Beaumont, as First Prize winner, also received a set of custom En Garde swords made by Miss Nyree Rain and Miss Stereo Nacht.

Aerial Dogfight
Despite some technical hiccups delaying the event, it eventually went off quite well and the participants had a great deal of fun.

4th Place: Stereo Nacht: 4 points

The First place winner received a trophy - Second and Third place winners received plaques.

Snowball Fight
After the excitement of the dogfight, many participants headed to Caledon Kittiwickshire to cool off with a snowball fight.

The prize was an Ornithopter constructed by Mr. Jimmy Branagh.

Zombie Hunt
Well, it couldn't remain all fun and snowballs for long. There was a zombie outbreak in New Toulouse and teams from all corners of the Steamlands made their way there to rid the city of the pests.

The winning team was from Armada. They killed 88 zombies between them!

Also participating were teams from: Caledon, The Steampunk Tintype & Telegraph, and a team composed of those who arrived teamless.

Members of the winning team received a zombie head and pistols mounted on a plaque, to display their zombie-killing prowess. All other participants received a plaque for their fearless participation.

Thank you to all of our participants and spectators. We had a very lovely Game Day event this season, and we'll hope to see you for Game Day IV, this summer!

Saturday, January 28th

3:00pm-5:30pm: Opening ball at Miss Nyree Rain's ballroom, Caledon on Sea

Dancing and ice skating on an ice-rink suspended over lava - amazingly kept frozen by spark technology! Custom ice skates will be provided, compliments of Miss Rain. Music provided by Otenth Paderborn.

5:30pm-6:30pm: Polar Bear Riding Competition, Inverbrackie

Ride the polar bear! Don't fall off! The one who rides longest gets a prize.

Sunday, January 29th

10:00am-12:00pm (Noon): Individual En Garde tournament, MariKesh Mondrago

The board will open at 9:45am, so come early. We will start as close to the hour as possible. This is a single elimination, individual tournament. The entry fee is L$50: to be shared between the four top players, the hosting sim and the organizers.

1:00pm-2:00pm: Aerial dog-fight competition, Inverbrackie

Get a plane from the windsock, take flight, and try to shoot down the other participants! If you are hit, just head back to the hangar and try again!

2:00pm-4:00pm: Snowball Fight, Caledon Kittiwickshire

Using Miss Ordinal Malaprop's snowball fight system, here is your chance to truly enjoy winter! Please read the notecard (available in-world from the Game Day poster) for the full rules.

4:00pm-5:00pm: Team Zombie-Hunting in New Toulouse

There will only be four teams - 5 players maximum per team. Please register in advance, and you will be given an actual playing time. You will have 10 minutes to kill as many zombies as you can. The team with the most kills will win. Complete rules are available from the Game Day poster in-world.

5:00pm-7:00pm: End the Third Game Day with a Formal Ball in Steelhead Saint-Helens

Join us and dance to the tunes of Mrs. Magdalena Haiku (tentative) to close this third (and second winter) Game Day. The Staff of the Consulate have been happy to provide you with much fun, and hope to see you this summer!

Game Day II - Maze Information

The maze opens on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 3pm SLT. The underwater dance at the center of the maze will start at the same time. The entrance is located here: Maze Start

If you do not wish to use the maze, you may go straight ahead, through the teleport door, into the ballroom. The maze and dance will start at the same time, but the maze will remain open until Sunday evening.

At the maze entrance, you will find:

Information on the maze and other Game Day events

Free diving suit and underwater breathing apparatus

A teleport door leading to the dance area

A display of some of the prizes you will find in the maze

There are hint givers at certain points in the maze: You may click on them for a hint, but you will need to be very close to the hint giver. They look like this:

There are also prizes in the maze. In addition to a few other prizes (which you may or may not encounter) there are 10 very small Imobilex Jugs (see: Delivery for The Baron) hidden in different parts of the maze.

They each contain a highly dangerous creature, so be very careful with them!

When you find one, click on it to have it transferred into your inventory. They may be partially buried, but none of them are fully buried, and none are fully embedded in other prims.
There are only 10 of them, they may only be found once each, and they each contain the same creature, so please be kind and only take 1. ^_^

Note: The maze itself is 60m x 60m, so remember that if you want to talk to others in the maze or the ballroom you will either need to send an IM or shout (Ctrl + Enter).

Game Day Hunt Information!

For this treasure hunt, we will send you exploring. We have taken pictures from 10 sims hosting a Wulfenbach Consulate (or associated build). It's up to you to find from which sim each picture is. Some are easy... some not so much. You will find the list of Consulate landmarks, the pictures, and the answer notecard inside the rules notecard. Prizes are awarded on the number of good answers. Please send the answer notecard (replace [your name] with your name) to Miss Nyree Rain before 3pm, Sunday August 28th, to claim any prize you may be entitled to!

Summer Game Day - Coming Soon!

Yes! The Wulfenbach Consulate is organizing another Game Day! A summer one, this time! So come on August 27 and 28, and have fun at one or many of our events and activities!

Saturday 27th

3pm to 5:30pm

Can you solve the maze leading to the opening ball dance floor? You may even grab some prizes along the way... [Maze Entrance] If you can't, or don't care to try, just come in for the dance! [Dance Floor]

5:30pm (runs until 3pm Sunday)

Do you know the consulates and adjacent grounds? Don your pith helmet and go exploring on this treasure hunt! We have taken pictures from each sim hosting a consulate. Find the places where the photos were taken. Prizes awarded on the number of good answers. (More information and instructions coming soon.)

5:30pm (runs until 7pm Sunday)

Call in your friends, and enjoy some refreshing water games! Slides, boats, swimming, rides... Pick one or try them all! [Clos Normand Consulate Welcome Area]

6pm to 6:30pm

Tiny Regatta through Babbage. Come as a tiny, and bring your tiny boat too. Don't have a boat or a tiny avatar? Free ones will be available. First three participants to reach the finish line will get a prize! [New Babbage]

Advertising Poster

Hello all!

Here's a poster I have put together to help get attention. This version is for posting to forums, blogs, nings, and the like. A second version includes "Touch for a note card with more information" on the bottom and can be used to create a note-card giving poster we can rez on walls all over the Steamlands (with permission, of course.)

Let me know if any changes need to be made. If not, tomorrow I'll import the texture and create a poster to send to all of you for us to slap up on walls!

Ice-Sculpture Building Contests

Part of The Consulate of Europa Wulfenbach's Game Day Event

In connection with the Game Day events, we will be hosting two building contests. A long-form contest with 1 week allowed for building, and a speed-build that allows 1 hour for building.

I. Basic Information

The theme for the long-form contest is “Girl Genius”. (See: Girl Genius Comic and Girl Genius Wiki for more information.) It doesn't need to be precise or a specific character, but something that would fit within the theme of the Girl Genius universe.

The speed-build will allow for a looser, more general “Steampunk” theme, but Girl Genius themed items are highly encouraged.

These are to be ice-sculptures, so you will need to use “ice” textures (some will be provided) and design your sculpture to look nice as a big chunk of ice. See specific regulations for sizing and prim count information below.

There will be a limit of 10 entries per contest, 1 entry per person.

You may not enter both contests. Pick the one that appeals to you the most.

No using alts to enter more than once.

Judges, judges' partners, judges' alts, and judges' partner's alts are not eligible.

Anyone currently banned from any Consulate property, or their alts, are not eligible.

Pre-registration is mandatory. See registration information below.

Residents from all corners of the grid are welcome, but all are expected to dress and behave in a polite manner while on the contest site. If you aren't sure if you're allowed to do something, you probably shouldn't do it (at least ask first). Anyone banned for bad behavior automatically forfeits their contest entry.

Questions not answered below should be addressed to Liam Bean via in-world IM. Please don't drop notecards for anything but registration – I probably wouldn't see them.

II. Specific Building Rules

Size: No larger than 5m x 5m x 10m.

Prim Count: 50, maximum.

No prims created by other people (including alts) (this includes megas, micros, etc.).

ALL prims must be created after the official start time.

Sculpts are ok, but you must apply the map to a prim you rezzed yourself after the start time.

No lights (from the “features” tab or scripted – glow and fullbright are ok).

No meshes (if applicable).

Contest is on a mature/moderate sim. No “adult” material, please.

Scripts, particles, and anything laggy should be kept to a minimum.

Your sculpture must not interfere with its neighbors and must be fully contained within the 5x5x10 boundary. This includes flexi prims, particles, and non-phantom bounding boxes.

Building for the long-form contest will be done off-site. Recommendations for sandboxes available on request. The info on time and location of placement for finished builds will be given out closer to contest start time.

Building for the speed-build may be done either on site or off site, but your completed build MUST be in place when time is called. Asset server issues, including inability to teleport, will not be allowed as an excuse for a late entry.

III. Registration

Registration must be sent as a notecard to Liam Bean with full perms in the following format:

Title: “Consulate Build Contest - YOUR NAME”

Body: A statement of which contest you are entering (long or short) and stating that you have read all of the rules and agree to them.

Due date for the long contest is Noon SLT 21 January, 2011.

Due date for speed-build is Noon SLT 29 January, 2011.

You will receive a confirmation of your registration within 24 hours.

Incomplete or late registration cards will be discarded with no notification.

Any registrations after we have10 entrants for each contest will go on the waiting list, in order received, in case of dropouts or no-shows.

Please make sure that the notecard is sent to Liam Bean – that's Liam (as in Liam Neeson or Liam Gallagher) Bean (as in baked beans or Rowan Atkinson). I am not responsible if you send it to the wrong person.

I reserve the right to close registration early if I receive more entries than expected.

11:00am-Noon: Speed-build Contest

NOTE: Any registered entrant who isn't present at the contest site at starting time will be considered a no-show and their place will go to the highest person on the waiting list who is on site.

2:00pm: Deadline for judges to get their votes in.

2:30pm: Prize ceremony for both contests

V. Speaking of Prizes...

Long Form Contest:

1^st place – L$500, a handsome trophy, and the envy of your peers

2^nd place – L$250, a slightly smaller trophy, but still quite a lot of envy

3^rd place – L$100, a nice trophy and a bit of envy

Everyone – A very nice participation plaque for mounting on your wall

Speed-Build Contest:

(Subject to changes prior to the start of the contest.)

1^st place – L$250 or an equivalent prize, a handsome trophy, etc etc etc

2^nd place – L$125 or an equivalent prize, a trophy, etc

3^rd place – L$50 or equivalent, trophy, etc

Everyone – The aforementioned participation plaque

You do not need to be present for the prize ceremony. However, if you are not going to be able to make the ceremony, please inform Liam Bean as early as possible, so that delivery of your prize can be arranged.
